Rock Band developer Harmonix acquired by Epic Games to 'create musical gameplay' for Fortnite - beaversardiner44
Rock group developer Harmonix has been noninheritable by Fortnite creator Epic Games, the cardinal companies have announced.
According to the promulgation, the Boston-based studio will "join forces closely with Epic to develop musical journeys and gameplay for Fortnite". Simultaneously, the studio will retain to keep its ongoing titles, such as Fuser and Rock Band 4.
Co-Founder Alex Rigopulos had the following to say on the move. "Harmonix has e'er aspired to create the Earth's most beloved synergistic music experiences, and by joining Epic we will be able to do this at shell. Together we wish push the creative boundaries of what's possible and invent recently ways for our players to do, do and share music."
Alain Tascan, V.P. of Game Development at Epic added his own instruction. "Music is already bringing millions of multitude together in Fortnite, from our emotes to global concerts and events. Together with the Harmonix squad we will transubstantiate how players go through medicine, going from passive listeners to active participants."
Harmonix's first game came twenty years ago, with Frequency on the PlayStation 2. They would go up on to create the plastic instrument phenomenon Guitar Hero with RedOctane in 2005, before Activision would pick up the rights to the series by the sequel. They past went off to create Tilt Stria in 2007 as an near direct rival merely adding new instruments. They'd also make strange music-focused games over the years including Terpsichore Inner, karaoke game Twitch Sings and nigh late DJ game Fuser this time last year.
Harmonix has published an FAQ on becoming part of the Poem Games family, which fans can read on the studio's official blog.
